If you want it to look nice, but still not have model paint or touch-up paint on it to deter from value, you can try using red crayon -- you may have to play around with softening the crayon (leave it out in the sun) and using a toothpick to apply it into the dings/scratches -- then wax -- dings/scratches won't be as obvious (if done well) yet easily reversible.
