Ride Report: 22 Miles of Headwinds!

Great ride, though! I rode today with my former Math Prof and we had a great ride! 22.3 miles on the odometers, but 20.82 by gmaps pedometer.

Here's the route!

We headed out at 5:15 PM and did the round in just over an hour and a half ride time. Out to Dayton, Indiana, Jennie showed me some speed I've never seen her able to hit! Absolutely outstanding! We held a 20MPH average for that 5 mile stretch, and got a great burn going. When we headed out Dayton road toward Wyandot Rd, though, that's when the wind started playing games with us. It turned into a headwind, right in time for the general long climb. All the way, back, we'd make a turn and so would the wind. I spent the last 11 miles of the ride down in the aerobars pulling. It was a good pull, though and we still averaged 15 or so while we rolled. Out where Wea School Road met up with CR 600, we took a short break at the old cemetery. I hope the occupants didn't mind us borrowing their stones for a couple minutes to grab a breather, because we were both getting kind frazzled from fighting the wind.

After, we took my wife to an all you can eat Pizza buffet. MAGIC HOUR! We needed recovery carbs, and Ci Ci's makes for a great cheap recovery meal.

Man, I am so happy my wife trusts me as well as Jennie (They are both friends as well. )! This way, I get a riding partner that paces enough like to a to ride with and is also getting to be able to challenge me as well. Tomorrow will be a nice leisurely ride with my wife, as well.

All in all, today was a good, challenging ride.
