Distribution channel as well as manufacturing channel. The Lemond brand is completely owned by Trek
(insert BD.com prediction here) and Trek has stopped making them but there are probably quite a few 2008 models around that haven't sold yet. If the OP's Trek dealer is connected, he should be able to make some calls and find one... probably at a good price too.
