Are there any name-brand bikes out there in the 2000-2500$ range that weight around 16 lbs? BikesDirect isn't an option since I want to ride it before I buy it. Also, I don't race.

Hi, have you looked at the Lapierre bikes? If you are watching the TdF that's what the Francaise de Jeux riders use. The S-lite models are cheaper and if you chose the components carefully you can stay below the 15-16lbs range.
