I'm with you there, but for a different reason. I'm just getting back into cycling after a 10+ year hiatus. Resisting the Siren's call to go too far too fast. For now, twice a week (Tues. & Thurs.), then 3x/wk (Mon., Wed., Fri.), then 4x/wk (Mon., Tues., Thurs., Fri.) and finally 5x/wk. Oh, and at some point during my current phase, increase my distance from 21 miles RT to 31.5 miles, RT.
