The only issue I see here is that 404s aren't really that much more aero than standard wheels. And until you get to the point where you're drifting both wheels and dragging the inner pedal in the up-position out of a corner, you won't notice the difference between 404s and box-section sew-ups anyway.

What I do notice is weight. Sprinting out of the corners, jumping for a break, going all out 100% screaming bloody-murder for the finish, gives a huge advantage to lightweight wheels. I definitely notice the difference between my 1200gm wheelset (with QR and cluster) compared to heavier wheels aero or not.
