First day with clipless pedals
I finally decided to buy some with some shoes from the LBS. I got shimano 105 pd-5610's to go with all the other 105 stuff, with some Shimano R085. I would have liked some sidi's but those were a bit out of my price range. First impression was very nice. It was a little awkward at first having your foot practically bolted to the pedals, but about a mile of clipping in and out of them and I was doing pretty well. The right side was way too tight, I had trouble unclipping from it, I had to really swing my ankle to get it lose. I just got done adjusting them right now and it's just right.
Did I fall? Unfortunately, yes. I was riding pretty easy on the bike path and looked down for a second and I hit a fairly large rock. The chain jumped off the crank, so I slowed down and unclipped my right side, the wind blew me over a bit to my left side and I couldn't unclip my left foot in time and I fell helplessly. I was soo embarrassed, a nice fellow asked me if I was ok. I kind of feel bad, I was soo embarrassed I kind of ignored him, threw the chain back on, checked the wheels and tires for damage. Surprisingly they were completely fine. Then rode off in shame.
Tomorrow I'm taking the bike for a 50 mile ride through some rolling hills. We'll see what kind of a difference they really do make.
