I will definitely follow up on these leads. nick_burns, I measured the seat tube opening diameter and got 25.0, then found that section on sheldon brown's site and the info there corroborated my findings. I followed up with nashbar and discovered that thomson makes a 25.0 and it's $80; american classic makes one and offers it for $40. an original Super Record post would be nice. or Dura ace, too, i suppose, since it already has dura ace shifters and hubs. I used to play soccer as a teenager and my teammates would harrass me if I mixed Adidas with Nike. thought it was a little silly at the time.
