I switched to gatorskins after Bicycling mag suggested them for comfort for long distance/centuries. So, I went with their 700x28 recommendation. Not sure I'm going to trust Bicycling again. They did not do much to soften the feel of my steel Trek 560 (531 frame, tight geometry), but maybe I was expecting too much. I put the original 700x23 Matrix CD3s (remember those?) back on and feel every bump.
