Why anyone would want to take part in a demonstration that attracts NEGATIVE attention towards their cause is beyond me.

I would argue that surrounding the vehicle, impeding its motion is "starting" the confrontation. Although I agree that the driver's retaliation was inappropriate, I'd be pissed off too. Food for thought: If the cyclists swarming the car start to touch or hit it, that's a threat and I imagine a driver could easily ram a cyclist in and claim self defense in that situation. It's not wise to put yourself in such situations, so I will neither participate in nor endorse CMs.
