Laurel --

Try this link http://www.giroposte.com/Seating.html for an actual Vitus seatpost -- made specifically for a 979 -- $70 Canadian. Also, a current search in Ebay pulls up a Campy Chorus and a Nuovo Record with "Alan" pantographing (Italian company building essentially the same frame at the time) -- both pretty reasonable at this point. Do your search in Road Bikes & Parts with "25.0" in both titles and descriptions.

Most of the Vituses I built as a mechanic in the 80s used a 3TTT post, which was much more readily available and cheaper than Campy back then; one distributor actually shipped new 979s with the 3TTT post and a Stronglight headset (although not an X-94 like in your bike) already installed to eliminate some hamfisted wrench from forcing on the wrong bits. If there are any good old road shops in your area, you might turn up a 3TTT.

Cheers -- Derek
