Wheelset decision - custom or Krysium SLs?

So, I'm talking to the LBS guy about wheels for my new bike and I told him to give me a price for Krysium SLs. He said that couldn't take much off of the list price ($950), but he thought that it would be a better deal if he built me a wheelset.

For $800, the wheel components would be:

Front hub - White Industries 28H H1
Rear hub - White Industries 32H H1
Front rim - 28 H Velocity Aerohead
Rear rim - 32 H Velocity Aerohead
Sapim CS-Ray spokes
DT Swiss alloy nips

He said that these wheels were better than the SLs because they had more spokes so that the rims could be lighter.
The total weight would be about the same.

Your thoughts,

Thanks,

Cliff
