I think that's, at best, a little over emotional. At worst it's downright arrogant.
What makes you think that your opinion about a bike that you haven't even seen is more accurate than the OP's wife who has ridden the bike and likes it? What makes you think that you can evaluate her needs better than she can? What makes you think that she isn't competent to tell if the brakes, or whatever, work?
