The grips were rubber, and completely petrified. Those and the rims/spokes were the only original parts I was not able to save. Oh, and the ball bearings.

I've never seen any repro grips that size, most are bulky balloon tire types. But I've been told that most of the race bikes were half wrapped in white cloth tape in the 20's and as far back as the teens so I'm going with that.
