1. To move up a category, often in reference to road bike racing
2. When Catman undergoes his feline transformation

It's a term that comes from road racing, where we have categories instead of this Beginner, Sport, Elite etc. nonsense. It goes Cat. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, Pro (domestic or International/ProTour).
