so.. because one (somewhat over-rated, IMHO) company turned out to have insufficiently burly wheels, it must true for all other carbon wheels?

I'm not saying you should aim for potholes or anything, but there's nothing inherently weaker about a rim just because it's made of carbon. It all depends on the layup, carbon quality, and general engineering of the product.

You don't hear people suggesting that you only ride your carbon-framed bike in races...
