I've taken my Tricross Comp down some pretty root nasty single track. I can't say it was fun though. With the proper tires and tire pressure, you should be able to go down some fairly technical trails if you choose the right lines. The lack of a front suspension fork makes it pretty bone jarring. Doubt you'd break anything on the bike though.
