Get a minivan. Seriously. You can remove the rear two rows if necessary, and fit multiple bikes inside.
A small minivan is a good option. Like the Mazda 5 or Kia Rondo. Or the Buick Redezvous.
I've got a Toyota Sienna and it's great for cargo. We've got 3 kids, so we fill it up pretty good. I can fit in 3 bikes in the back, if I'm careful.
