Thanks Tom - I rarely ride in the rain, I typically check the radar and pick a good time. On this trip I just looked out the window (there were blue skys at the start) and relied on the forcast from the night before. As far as surprising the other riders - the closet I could judge that was that one of the guys suggested I ride next weekend as a couple of them were doing the Ididaride. They may have been a fast group but they were all mature enough to be good people.
