I don't have a brooks and may never since I'm very happy with my saddle.... My thought is that it's not a big deal to try a brooks since they sell second hand for almost as much as new. If you don't like it and don't think it's worth the money then sell it and move on..... then you have experience with it and can go on and on about what a piece of crap it is.

Seats on a touring bike are like shifters... personal choice that doesn't really have a right or wrong answer.
