I watch it. I have a normal 22 mile ride that I do on weekday mornings, and I know that i should finish about 1050kj(varies from 1000 to 1100). I also know the stop sign where I should be at 850kj, and if I'm not at 850 there I know I need to pick up the pace for the rest of the ride.
