Which part of Colorado? Fruita is just ouside of Moab, Utah. Plenty of the best slickrock riding on earth.
Also road rides in Canyonlands National park, Arches National park, couple more hours south is Valley of the Gods (mountain biking) and Monument Valley (mountain biking). The Moab century tour is a great road ride. Just under 100 miles, and you get to climb "The Big Nasty" (3000 ft 7 miles) though the La Sal mountains. Then drops into the Colorado river gorge, with 1000 ft redrock cliffs on both sides.
