the best thing you can do is take it back to where you bought it so the mechanic could have a look. you did'nt mention what bike you bought a ROAD or MB? Your bike's brake could be a V-Brake or a Caliper brake. Or since you have internet access, check the brakes manufacturers website for ways of adjusting. The brake arms should move at the same time.
