To clean my Zeros, I take them apart and rinse them in a small bowl filled with degreaser for a few seconds. Then dry and lube the C-clamp spring sparingly with a good lube--I use T-9, but Speedplay recommends PTFE or teflon-based. I also lube mine regularly with few drops of T-9 on the exposed C-clamp after every ride (wipe off excess with rag).
