friction is only one part of the problem. The main reason I use chamois cremes is to prevent bacterial and fungal infections that contribute to saddle sores. I have used Assos chamois creme for years and it works well you only use a small amount. I just bought a tube of DZnuts chamois cream, Dave Zabriskie's Co., and this stuff is great it is my new brand. it has the anti fungal/bacterial properties and also works better on friction than assos. stuff is not cheap but you only use a little bit
