This does raise the question of validity of trying to set records. Being in a recreation/sport that deals with pushing limits, pain and rewards, why is it a bad thing that someone wanted to break a record in a location that is somewhat exotic? If this "psycho" had succeeded, would we be singing his praises rather than questioning his sanity. I, for one, mostly stick to riding in traffic and pushing the downhill envelope on regular roads. That is enough "edge" for me. The Frenchman gets a star from me for trying...and a question mark for methodoligy.
