I like companies that design and manufacture their own stuff.
I met the guy that did the carbon layup on my frame at the factory. He's an employee of the company whose name is on the downtube.
I like that.
Same with Zipp. I can run down there and talk to the guys that make the wheels. They design and manufacture their own goods. To me, that gives them a step up on the competition.

Heck even the Specialized manufacturer, Merida, has ownership in the mother ship.
Incorrect and not an accurate comparison at all.
BD sources stuff already designed and produced and puts labels on it.
Cervelo does R&D and is involved in the production even though they don't own the factory.
I understand your point, though, and don't
