My first fast ride

I go out on some club rides and generally put myself in the 14-16 mph average group. Not exactly blistering but it is a pace I can do all day. Today I went for the strenuous group 18-22 I believe. Average speed over 76 miles w/ 3500 ft of climbing was 17.5 mph. In that there were multiple 30 mph pulls over 2-3 miles starting on slight downhills and lasting until the leader gave up. That and 40mph group descents. Lets just say this is a wee bit faster than I am used to.
Meanwhile the conversation is largely about Ironman comps, triathlons, and the hardest rides in the Seattle area. Oh and one guy did a mountain stage of the Tour de France...
It was hard but it was fun. Hopefully I will have rested enough to do it again next weekend...
Now back to eating everything I can find
