Ratio of front to rear flats?

Got going with a guy at the LBS today. It's been my experience from a good 15 years or more of commuting that I seem to get 7 to 10 rear flats for every front flat. He said that's balderdash (he actually SAID that, I didn't know anyone used that word ) However I maintain that on roads we'll see a far greater ratio of rear flats to front flats.

Now I'm not looking for a lot of posts suggesting flat resistant tires. This is all about regular folks just riding to work and which end goes PFFFFT on them the most and by roughly how much more often.

Mind you in thinking about it on the way home I have to admit that I'm tempted to put flat resistant tires onto the rear and leave the noticably better spinning regular tires up front.

Now the question is "why".... no, not why this thread but why more rear flats than front. My story is that the front upsets the debris that was laying politely flat and then the rear catches it as it bounces around and when it goes badly the debris stabs the rear out of spite.... at least that's my story and I'm sticking to it...

Anyone?
