As I said before, neither riding dangerously close to the door zone nor illegally close to a parked car is "practicable", which is almost universally the wording of the "ride to the right" law within the U.S. Maybe I'm idealistic, but that seems to me to be your legal out. You are not legally required to be further to the right than practicable, no matter how far into the traffic lane that is, or how much traffic you're holding up as a result. If a cop doesn't know this, the judge should.
