The best way that I've found to remove the plastic taste is to make a mixture of hot water and baking soda and let the bag and the tube soak in it for several hours.

As far as keeping it clean, a 3:1 mixture of water and Listerine passed through the tube works okay. That's what I did when I used one, but there are probably better methods.

I've gone back to cages and bottles.
