From what I've read/heard.... 105's are the best bang for your buck. I have the 540's (for about 2k miles now), and I am seriously considering upgrading to the 105's.
The 540's are okay, but if you can afford it, I would go with 105's. Possibly Ultegra, but Dura-Ace pedals are overrated.
