Well, stringbreaker was coaxed into the trade because he too could not get comfortable at all on the narrow Imperial.
I, on the other hand, love both the narrow and regular Imperials. The regular width Imperial has a slight edge on the comfort level, but that could be simply because I've been riding it far longer.
