Pretty much what I do except I use aviation gasoline (100LL) as a solvent to clean since it's free.
I'll repeat the process of the shaking the chain in a pickle jar several times since the first or second time doesn't always get it 100% clean. And then of course air dry in the sun to make sure all the solvent is completely gone.

I like how wax keeps my chain clean for weeks.
