I have a steel framed, touring bike with a rack and panniers, but a bad wheel......
It'll be up and running again soon as my replacement wheel is built and that's waiting on funding.

Anyway, I remember those days last year. And I'm sooo glad I'm not doing it again. 50lbs on the rack in panniers/in a basket is sooo much better than 50 on the back. Only time I'll feel it is on a hill, otherwise it's like buttah.
