How about a late 80's Chicago built Circuit with Columbus SL?

I'd like to stay south of $150 for the frame.
I'm not familiar w/the Circuit. Columbus SL is nice if it's in good shape, but it would seem to me that early 80's would be SL, and maybe later 80's should be SLX, if you can find it.

Tange 1 would be comparable to the SLX, and Tange 2 to the SL, I suppose, in a rough way.
Race vs. Touring? Hmm. There are tons of bikes out there, frames, too.

I think before you get that far, you'd need to know what that Shimano 600 group would work on. I have 4 different Shimano 600 groups on bikes I've had or have, and there's a difference in how they mount on a frame, so you need to get that straight first.
The down tube shifter mounts will make the most difference, so if you send pix of those, and let us know what type of cable guides, etc, you'll get far more qualified advice from far more knowledgable folks than this old man.

Good Luck.
