Old Department Store Bikes Anyone?

I know you guys are into the high end stuff, but you've got to have beaters around.

I just picked this JC Penny (by Huffy) roadie up for my girlfriend to ride around campus. My best guess puts it in the mid-late 70's based on the other two bikes my friend got with it (A Winnebago branded 10 speed and another 3 speed internal hub bike) . Had the wrong shifter so the shift cable couldn't be hooked up. I spent more time looking at it than riding it trying to fix that problem. I finally came up with a solution tonight in the form of simply locking it in first gear, it's the only one she'll be able to ride it in anyway, 2nd and 3rd are TALL. I know you guys are sticklers for reversable modification, and this one is, simply requires removing a screw (hole will still be there, but you won't see it unless you're looking right at the end of the axle).
It now awaits brake cables and me fixing the rear lever (Have to make a new piece for the perch so it will hold to the bars)

And my personal vintage bike, a late 40's Monarch Silver king turned pseudo clunker type mountain bike (this one is just as reversable, the only actual modification I made to the frame was the removal of an already cracked seat post clamp, and the drilling of 2 small holes to mount a rear brake and the derailleur) Correct or not, this is a hell of a lot more fun than when it was a beach cruiser.
