Bottles with a recycling code of 7 (polycarbonate) are bad for you, Nalgene's squishy white bottle is made of 2 (high density polyethylene), which is fine. Now the studies which set off this Nalgene scandal proved that it takes seriously volatile chemicals to set off the leaching of BpA, bleach, fire, scrubbing w/steel wool, boiling water, steel cleaner, days baking in the sun, storing water for weeks, etc. Otherwise the amount leached is less than you'll absorb handling new rug for a day.
Also, who's wearing unbreakable glasses? (I am) Your reading this through polycarbonate! Who's smelled "new car smell"? You've DRENCHED yourself in BpA + other cancer causing agents. New rugs smell? New paint? Salad in a plastic box? We are living in a soup of cancer causing stuff. What's in that nasty taste our bike bottle make? I don't know either. Who here smokes?
I admit I use my 7pc bottle much less often than the 2hdpe bottle, I intend on going stainless, but that's mostly to make my Myata 912 look awesome.
