Bikes: '72 Schwinn SS, 28" Sun unicycle, 24" Torker unicycle, 20" Nimbus Hoppley

Comparison help - Restore old bike or buy new?

I have a 1970ish Schwinn Super Sport that is in relatively good working order but could definitely use a tuning-up (new derailleur, pedals, wheelsets, brake cables...). I really like the bike but I think I could use a new one, as this was my dad's to begin with and my only other non-car mode of transportation is on the unicycle...which just isn't feasible for my commute.

I've been looking all around for a new bike and I seem to have narrowed it down to either a Trek Hybrid 7100 (i prefer drop-down handlebars though ) , a Dawes Lightning Sport (from ebay, i've read good & bad about these), or a Windsor Wellington 1.0 (i'd like to keep with the yellow).

If any of you have some knowledge of these brands, I would really appreciate hearing from you. I'm trying to keep this as close to $250 as possible, but if someone convinces me that my Super Sport is worth restoring, I may very well lean more in that direction and save my money...
