This is an important issue that could have a nationwide impact to all commuters: if it is implemented in NYC, it may be implemented in other parts of the country later on...
We need the support of the entire Commuting forum to help us here in NYC..
O.
Count me in, I've never been too fond of the crazy guys in CM.
Seems to me (from what I see out the 2nd floor window seat where I have dinner every friday night with my gf) that CM is mostly either people out with a political agenda, people who like to make a lot of noise and break traffic laws, or yuppies who only ride once or twice a week. That is NOT the way to have cycling accept as a viable alternative for everyday transportation.
I'm a regular commuter, the fact that I'm out there everday I think shows enough of a point to people. I've been seeing the same traffic cop at one intersection for about 2 weeks, she waves me through sometimes now. Some cars also get to know me, there's a van that lets me in the lane and lets me go through on most days if I see him on the way in. I don't slow anyone down and I move to the side when I know I'm too slow. Otherwise, I take the lane if I can go fast enough or if the situation requires.
