Your introduction makes no
mention of visitors to your fair
city. I'm planning to attend a
cycling related event in 2005 with
about 3000 other attendees.
Shall we take our $$ elsewhere?
I'm sure you've had the myriad
studies that reflect how your
proposed legislation will
negatively impact cycling safety
sent to you by now. I suggest you
read them while I discuss
relocation with the organizers of
our convention. We can't have
our people locked up and their
cycles impounded because we
choose NYC as a host city for our
industry. There are usually
several trade shows at both the
consumer, retail and industry
level specifically for the NY
market held in your city every year. No
longer if you don't accommodate
us. I'd like to also request that you
discuss this proposed legislation
with local law enforcement.
Both your staff and NYPD have indicated
there has been no dialogue between your
respective offices.

M. Provenzano, you're a
Democrat? Transalt can provide
you with thousands of voters,
and can take thousands you may
have had away. Suggest you take
a learned look at the cause and
effect of this proposed
legislation. Although you may
find the private sector lucrative it
can be a lasting embarrassment
as to how you may find yourself
there.

Thank you for your time, please
take further time to educate
yourself in matters of road safety and
statistics available as they apply to
your introduction.

Sincerely, and as friendly as I can be
in these circumstance,

From what I've read elsewhere, nothing but negative press for this boondoggle. The police don't want it, the public (except cyclists) don't care and the beancounters are scared of the $$ lost to implementation of such a large beaucracy to control it all. There was no mention of what to do with peoeple who show up in NYC with a bike for a few days in the legislation so I thoughtI'd use that as a wedge to tourist $$ since I don't live there and have no say.
