For a fleeting moment I had the bright of idea of making a quick buck by putting the original saddles up for sale on craigslist or ebay. Then I had that exact thought about having to get rid of the Brooks if I sold the bikes. I put them in a box and placed them in the closet along with the original pedals that I took off in favor of a pair of SPD pedals.
The very first thing I did after pulling the saddles out of the box was proofide them, top and bottom. Then we went for the short ride and I gave them another good coating when we got back, which I left to settle in overnight. Gave them a good buff this morning and they really shine. The one thing I am really missing is fenders. I realize how important they are to keeping the bottom of the saddles dry in wet weather, and until I can afford them, I'll have to stick to riding on fair weather days.
