If you're looking for a top touring bike, pay the money and move on. They don't come around too often, are highly regarded and sought after, and you won't find much any better for that purpose.

The Specialized Expedition was a top-tier tourer as well, and easily it's rival. The last one I had sold for $550 without any problems at all.

Heck, even the low-end tourer's fetch $200 - $300 in good condition. If that's the kind of machine you're looking for, buy it.
