My point was I know a few hundred cyclists in a number of the clubs I belong to and none of them have had their bars snap off, but more than a few have been nailed by errant vehicle drivers. If you're going to worry about something, and provide it your attention on a fast descent, it should be something that is statistically much more likely to happen. Like the teenager talking on her cell phone swerving into your lane.
Otherwise you'd be going to bed every night worrying about car theft in the middle of Baffin Island, instead of whether you turned off the gas on the stove.
Frankly the amount of mis-information "Sky is falling" completely unsubstantiated comments about carbon parts on Bike Forum is appaling. I don't want to worry about my bars snapping off either. Or bootleg Frank Sinatra albums taking money out of Nacy Sinatra's pocket. Or my dog vomiting on my carpet. Or an asteroid striking the earth causing an apocolyptic climate change.
So I put my bars on right and keep my dog from eating stuff she shouldn't. The other stuff I can't do anything about.
Hey, no harm, no foul. You make a very good point about all the bad info out there on CF. What I'm really worried about now is who are these people bootlegging Frank Sinatra albums.

Now, that's a scary thought. And I won't mention what my dog did on my carpet today.
