If I had to pull up on every guy who crossed the center line for whatever reason, I'd end up getting killed myself. Except in the most blantant cases, a tap on the horn will do.

Depends on the ref. I think your more likely to find the ones who race themselves, like me, are a little more liberal about it than one's who have never raced.
I've always wondered why you're allowed to ref having never raced. You'd think you need at least a cursory knowledge of what its like to ride in a pack under race conditions. Of course, the 4'9" white guys refing NBA games probably are slightly under-experienced too...
