Visibility is also much greater from a bike than from inside a car.

There is a rather serious movement in some cities to allow cyclists to roll stop signs and treat lights as signs (i.e. stop and proceed if safe). The goal is to make it easier to get around on bicycles and therefore encourage their use.

If you still want to stop and have your life ruled by artificial laws instead of the laws of nature (i.e. stop only when dangerous), then be my guest. Sounds silly to me.
But it ain't up to you to 'figure'. As a citizen, it is your duty to obey the laws to the best of your ability. Yes, there are times the law can be bent to fit the situation, but disobeying the law just because it isn't convenient makes you just another part of the overall problem in this country of spoiled brats. If you don't like the law, work to change it (but of course that might take work and inconvenience you further...waahhhh). Riding a bike does not grant you any special privileges over the general population.

So in a nutshell, you can make up all the excuses you want...write a book if it turns you on, but the bottom line is that you have a duty to obey the laws of our society to the best of your ability...and not doing so makes you just another mutt....no matter how many excuses you dream up.

I intend to be among the outlaws" - Edward Abbey
