Thomson isn't so much great as rare in this world.
It's as light (often lighter) than most carbon posts.
It works, not that it's hard for a post, though an amazing number of companies really butcher the job.
It's reasonably priced (more or less).
It's still made by machinists in the U.S. by a family company that actually supports cycling.
How many other production component manufacturers still fit that bill?
