True, I'm not fully sure how controlled it has to be or so on, but I do remeber hearing that na LED does require a special circuit to run without burning out (unless you choose to run a power source that just cant put out the kind of current that would damage the LED, but that's not practical for use anywhere but short-duration lighting). SOmething about how it behaves under duration.

For magnetic switches circuits hav eto be used as well, but some LED lamps use "click" (i'm tired I cant remeber the right name right now) switches, like my old single LED opticube, and those had just the regulator.
