Did I do the right thing?
When I turned the handlebar for balance while riding, it would stick alot and sometimes cause me to lose my balance. I removed the bolt in the middle of the handlebar area where the pivot point is. I believe this is called the headset, but I'm no expert. Anyway, I then took of the cap that is underneath that bolt and sprayed Liquid Wrench in there pretty thoroughly. Alot of the stuff leaked out the bottom of the headset at the point where it meets the fork. The sticking is now gone.
But yesterday, I read on this board where a guy accidently sprayed some WD-40 in this area and everyone told him not to get WD-40 near the headset. And here I actually sprayed Liquid Wrench directly into it. I don't know if these products are similar. I guess they're both meant for lubrication. Like I said, the sticking is gone, but have I done some damage that I don't know about that will surface in the future?
