Bikes: '96 Litespeed Catalyst, '05 Litespeed Firenze, '06 Litespeed Tuscany, '20 Surly Midnight Special, All are 3x10. It is hilly around here!

A larger crank (i.e. more teeth on the chainrings) would make climbing harder, not easier. Yes, you will go further for each rotation but you will have to push harder too.

If you have problems climbing hills with a 44x24 (I assume that's the second cog up from the 34) you need a smaller chainring, not a larger one.
